The Way of St. James pilgrimage route
Pilgrimage on the Way of St. James is more popular than it has been in a long time. Today, thousands still follow these ancient paths each year and return fascinated. You can also experience this phenomenon—quite literally—in the Palatinate, where more than 100 kilometres of pilgrimage routes cross the region.
There are two hiking routes that can be travelled on foot or by bicycle. Both start in Speyer and end at Hornbach Monastery.

The northern route runs through the Neustadt Valley, the Kaiserslautern area, Landstuhl and Homburg; the southern route leads through Landau, Klingenmünster, Birkenhördt, Busenberg and Kröppen.
The trail is well signposted with shell emblems (a white shell on a blue background) and information boards with location details and useful information.
