In November 2022, the municipal council unanimously decided to reduce street lighting in the municipality as part of its energy-saving measures. A working group has now reviewed the lighting and selected streetlights to be switched off in the near future. These lights have been marked with a special ring (see attached image). I would like to emphasize that the working group took road safety, bus stops, junctions and access routes to the kindergarten into account. The measures were mainly implemented in traffic-calmed areas. In addition, one bulb will be switched off on streetlights with two lamps. In total, 33 streetlights in the municipality of Schwedelbach-Pörrbach will be switched off, saving around 25% in energy. This will also save the municipality around €4,000 a year. In 2023, the municipal council will consider switching to LED street lighting, enabling us to contribute to climate protection over the long term. Mayor Henning Schaumlöffel
